Andy Griffith the star of the television comedy “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Matlock”, has died at the age of 86.

Griffith was rushed to a North Carolina hospital by an EMS team after they were called to his Roanoke home Tuesday morning. The actor’s close friend, former UNC President Bill Friday, confirmed the news to several sources.
The details surrounding the cause of his death were not immediately available.
Andrew Samuel “Andy” Griffith was born June 1, 1926 in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Not only was Andy Griffith an actor, director, producer, he was also a Grammy Award winning Southern-gospel singer, and writer.
He was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush.
He was a beloved actor and will definitely be missed.
